Tolstoy "Anne Karenina" [c.1944] decorated faux leather collector's edition
Translated by Constance Garnett, published by the International Collectors Library circa 1944.
Octavo in faux leather decorated front board and spine, gilt text block top edge, cloth head and tail band in binding along with a ribbon place mark, deckled outer edge, 736 pages, unadorned end papers, illustrated by Fritz Eichenberg.
This is a "very good" or better vintage hardcover. The spine is strong and the board hinges quiet crisp and tight. There are no loose, folded or torn pages. The board corners are square and crisp. The spine head and heel are unbumped. The text block edges are uniform in color all around. Gilt decorations on front board and spine are crisp, not rubbed. Spine is lightly tanned.
Overall, a very pleasing vintage volume!
