"Saratoga Trunk" by Edna Ferber, published in 1941 by Doubleday, Dorian and Company.

First edition.

Octavo in blue cloth wrapped boards, debossed decorations on front board, painted title plate on spine, tinted upper text block edge, deckled outer edge, unadorned end papers, 352 pages.

This is a "good plus" to "very good -" vintage hardcover with a solid binding and intact hinges. The spine is slightly weak, but not coming apart. The plain paper endpapers are tanned front and back. There is no writing, no loose, torn or folded pages. The text block closes tightly and is square. The tinting on the upper text block edge is dark but shows some light spotting. Outer edge is uniform in color, bottom edge similar tone, with some mild foxing (see accompanying pictures). Board corners are lightly bumped with a little wear at tips but not worn through. Spine head and heel are bumped with light edge wear, not frayed. Cloth on front and back board is relatively uniform in color as is spine, some mild anomalies to cloth if held to the light at the right angle. Decorative titling on the spine is bright, complete, not rubbed.

The original dust jacket is complete, not clipped, showing the original publisher's price of $2.50 inside the front flap. Edge wear over all, Some losses top and bottom, most pronounced at spine heel. Illustration is uniform across spine and front, not tanned or faded. Light background on backcover reflects surface wear and tanning. Not a perfect cover, but not the worst. Now protected in a removable archival sleeve for proper presentation and preservation.

Fun title from the Pulitzer Prize winning author of So Big, Show Boat and Cimarron.
