Robinson Crusoe Daniel DeFoe [c.1900] White chalk decorations
Published circa 1900 by M.A. Donohue and Company of Chicago.
8vo wrapped in green cloth with chalked titling and decorations on the front board and spine, the end papers are decorated, no internal illustrations, 472 pages.
This is a "good plus" to "very good-" vintage hardcover with an intact but somewhat weakened spine and hinges. There is a very faint, fountain pen inked name and address on the front paste down (see accompanying images), other wise no apparent writing. The text block closes tightly, is square, with no loose, torn or folded pages. The text block edges are relatively uniform in color around, no spotting, some light scuffs, top edge is mildly tanned. The board corners are bumped with slight wear at the tips, not worn through. Spine head and tail have some surface wear, but again, not worn through. Chalked lettering on the front board is crisp and complete, decorations on the spine show some rubbing.
A fun, antique classic!
