"Rickshaw Boy" written in China by Lau Shaw, translated by Evan King, published in 1945 by Reynal & Hitchcock of New York.

First Edition.

8vo in yellow cloth wrapped boards, full color decorated end papers, monochromatic illustrations throughout by Cyrus Leroy Baldridge, 384 pages.

This is a "very good" vintage hardcover with a solid binding and crisp board gutters. There are no loose, torn or folded pages. Aside from the original owner inscription and date inside the front paste down (see accompanying images), no writing. The text block closes tightly, relatively uniform in color on all sides, top slightly dusted, outer lightly tanned. The board corners are just mildly bumped on the front board, but still square. Spine head and heel are bumped. The titling on the spine is crisp. Upper board edges are tanned.

The original vintage dust wrapper has edge wear and losses at the spine top and heel. Spine is tanned. No marks or writing. Several small closed or folded tears along bottom. Not perfect, but not too shabby either. Will arrive protected in a removable archival sleeve for proper presentation.

Fascinating story made even better with the wonderful illustrations by Mr. Baldridge.
