Richard Matheson "I Am Legend" First edition thus The most famous classic science fiction "vampires" novel Vintage paperback
"I Am Legend" by Richard Matheson, published in 1964 by Bantam in updated cover art. Originally released in 1954, went on to become the basis for three film adaptations: "The Last Man on Earth", starring Vincent Price in 1964 (which was likely the impetus for this printing of the book), "The Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston in 1971, and finally, "I Am Legend" starring Will Smith in 2007 (if you saw it and didn't care for it, I suggest getting your hands on the alternate cut, which has an entirely different ending and is a much more satisfying version than the theatrical release - really). This novel was actually an inspiration for George Romero's original "Night of the Living Dead" in 1968. It might be said that this book is the progenitor of the whole "zombie apocalypse" book and film genre. First edition thus. This is a "very good" vintage paperback with a solid spine, not creased or rolled. No loose or torn pages. No writing or names. No turned down corners. Text block edges all relatively even and free from scuffs, etc. Upper front corner is creased at the tip and the text block has a slight curl on upper outer edge. Overall, very satisfying.
