"The Viaduct Murder" being the first novel by Robert A. Knox, published circa 1930 by the Jacobsen Publishing Co. as a reprint of the earlier printing by Scribner in 1926.

Octavo, in orange cloth wrapped boards, simply decorated front board, unadorned end papers, no illustrations aside from map shown at the opening, 252 page.

As per "GoodReads":
[This book is] one of the seminal works of the genre, The Viaduct Murder was first published in 1925. It was selected by Howard Haycraft to be included in the ultimate mystery list: "The Haycraft-Queen Definitive Library of Detective-Crime-Mystery Fiction, Two Centuries of Cornerstones 1748-1948."

This is a "good plus" book with a solid binding and intact hinges. There is a small line of what look to be fractional notations along the bottom of the front free endpaper, otherwise no writing. There are no loose, torn or folded pages. The board corners are all bumped, with the bottom ones being significantly so (see accompanying images), some wear at the corner tips, but not worn through. The spine is somewhat tanned and the head and heel are bumped with some slight edge wear. Some surface rubs on the cloth of the back cover, a little what may be tanning. The text block closes tightly and is uniformly tanned on all sides.

Overall, a rather pleasing copy of a fairly scarce copy of this author's first novel. Mr Knox went on to begin the well regarded "Miles Bredon" series, publishing the first 2 years after "The Viaduct Murder" was published.

Makes for a nice addition for the discerning mystery collector.
