Jack London "The Call of the Wild" hardcover novel [c.1924]
Published sometime between 1910 and 1924 by Grosset and Dunlap, publishers of American classics like Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys.
Octavo in tan cloth wrapped boards with a pictorial paste-down on the front cover, illustrated front and back endpapers, glossy black and white frontispiece, 9 internal black and white full-page illustrations on the same stock as the rest of the pages, the outer and bottom edges of the text block are deckled, 231 pages.
This is a "good" or better vintage hardcover with a weakened but intact binding, the gutters are not split. There is a penned X-mas inscription on the back of the frontispiece (see accompanying images), otherwise no writing or library plates. There are no loose, torn or folded pages. The spine is cocked so that when the book is laid flat on its back, the front board protrudes further than the back. Board corners and spine edges are bumped with wear to the cloth. Overall surface wear and tanning and stains.
Not a perfect book, but still a nice piece to display on your shelf or mantle. And it's a good read!
