"Tarzan Lord of the Jungle" by Edgar Rice Burroughs, printed by A.C, McClurg for the first time in September of 1928.

First Edition, 2nd or 3rd state, as per "Edgar Rice Burroughs - The Bibliography" by Robert B. Zeuschner.

The way we can discern this is that the first state first edition had a typo on page 208 where the third line from the top was repeated again on the last line of the page. This book does not show that error, which was corrected in the second through fourth printings of the first edition printed just days later. It is not a Second Edition, as this was stated on the verso, which, as seen in the accompanying photos, this copy does not. Conclusion: First edition, states 2, 3 or 4.

Octavo, green cloth wrapped boards, 5 semi-glossy sepia plates, decoration on the title page, 377 pages.

This is a "good" vintage book with an intact binding. The front hinge is not cracked, the back hinge is cracked inside the two free end papers (see accompanying images). No loose, torn or folded pages. No apparent writing. The text block closes tight, lightly tanned and dusted, a few small spots. The pages internally are relatively bright. The board corners bumped with various degrees of tip wear, all showing underlying board. Spine is sunned but not cracked, some wear to head and heel.

The custom made dust jacket is an exact reproduction of the jacket sold with this book back in 1928, with the name of the printer on the inside front flap being the only variance. Very cool!

Overall, a better-than-most first edition of a classic Tarzan story.
